(Civitan) Scott Maddox hopes to move Salisbury into future with city council bid
Former City Council Member Scott Maddox hopes to move Salisbury into the future with a successful election bid.
Maddox, 54, is retired. He most recently coached baseball and taught career and technical education at Salisbury High School. Before that, he was the Rowan County Manager for the Department of Revenue. He served on the Salisbury City Council from 1993 to 2001.
Maddox said his reason for running is trying to move the city of Salisbury the best it could possibly be.
“To do that, we have to work with other council members and all parts of the community,” Maddox said. “We can either try to be the kind of city that wants to be like other cities or we can be the city everyone wants to be.”
He said Salisbury has to look at its future positively to progress.
Maddox is a graduate of Wingate University, where he received a degree in management with a focus in economics. He also received a teaching certificate from East Carolina University in 2002.
He has been a member of the Robertson Family Foundation board, tourism board and Salisbury Civitans. Maddox said he’s also been involved in Rowan Little League.
He attends First Baptist Church in Salisbury.
Maddox and his wife have one daughter and one son.
